Custom liquid is an advanced section where advanced users can add entirely custom code to to the theme.

One major advantage of the custom liquid section is that custom liquid is preserved between migrations without the intervention of a developer, so merchants wishing to make small additions to the theme without making the upgrade path more difficult may wish to do so.
